Sarah Khasawinah graduated from Bryn
Mawr College in May 2009 where she majored in Mathematics and
English. She believes strongly in "liberty and justice for all,"
and spends much of her time working to make this ideal a reality for
everyone. She also enjoys building bridges with people from all
backgrounds and standing up for causes that protect our human
family. Hence, during her undergraduate years, she founded a
beekeeping club to raise awareness about the importance of pollination
for humanity. She also founded the Multi-faith Running Initiative
through which women of diverse faith and running experiences came
together to run the Philadelphia Half Marathon under the unexpected
banner of unity and faith.
Sarah is currently training for her
first ever marathon, The Niagara Falls International Marathon, and
hopes you will join her on post-dawn runs in Georgia!

My
name is Nicole Kingsley, and I’m from Pavilion, NY. I
recently graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo
with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and a minor in
economics. I will be beginning a Ph.D. program, probably in
applied math, at Iowa State University in the fall.
Some of my interests outside of mathematics include reading, watching
baseball, and traveling. I also like decorating cakes, and have
worked in a bakery for the past three years. Studying abroad last
summer in Prague was one of my favorite college experiences, and I
definitely hope to go back some day. I also did an REU in
Portland, OR last summer, where my team and I explored the application
of wavelets to the vocal identification of great horned owls. I
loved Portland as well, and I’m really hoping to make it back
there this year for Mathfest. |

Arielle Leitner received her BS in
mathematics from CSU, Chico in 2009. Next year, she will enter
the Ph.D. program at UC Santa Barbara. She plans to study
algebra. In the past two summers, she has participated in two
REU's: in summer of 2007 on Arithmetic Derivatives and Number
Theory under Ben Levitt, and in summer of 2008 on Universal Cycles
under Anant Godbole. |

My name is Molly Moran. I am 22 years old and was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. I just graduated from Colorado College where I majored in mathematics and minored in French language. Some of my most memorable experiences during my time at CC were my tutoring sessions with elementary and middle school students, my semester abroad in the south of France, and my summer research with one of my professors in knot theory. My research experience, along with my experiences from the Summer Program for Women in Mathematics in July 2008, really opened my eyes to everything mathematics has to offer. I look forward to continuing my exploration of mathematics in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. |

My
name is Melissa G Ngamini. I am the eldest of four. I have one sister
Natasha who lives in Paris. A brother Mervyn that lives with her and
the youngest of the family Darryl who lives in Dakar with my Dad. Even
though I was born in the US, I pratically spent my whole life in
Cameroon with my family. This is why I am more fluent in French than
English.
My
Childhood in Cameroon was pretty amazing, I got to go to many countries
and learn about different cultures. It is during that time I fell in
love with Mathematics and everything that is related to science. When I
came back to the US to continue with my college education the science
and mathematics field was just the right choice for me.
I got
my BS in Pure Mathematics from Morgan State University and I am now
hoping to get my PHD in Applied Mathematics form North Carolina State
University |

I am completing my first year in the
PhD program at Stony Brook University. Over this year I have been
exposed to more mathematics, and this has strengthened my interest in
studying math. I have developed a particular interest in studying
differential geometry, partially because the math department at Stony
Brook is especially well-known for its focus on geometry.
Over the summer I will be preparing to
take the comprehensive exams at Stony Brook. I hope to broaden my
academic horizons while I meet everyone in the program. I am looking
forward.

I am Heather Walling. My hometown is
in the Binghamton, NY area, and I recently graduated from SUNY Fredonia
in Western NY. I earned a degree in both Adolescent Math Education and
Mathematics. Student teaching this past semester was one of the
highlights of my college career; I loved it and had so much fun!
One of my favorite things (besides
math, of course) is music, and I have played the saxophone since fourth
grade. Not only do I like playing music, I like listening to it;
eclectic does not even begin to describe the songs that are on my play
list. I love Broadway/musicals and have seen many shows (at least 14!),
and I also like to read, play a few video games, and be outside. I like
having a lot of fun and being silly! Starting in the fall, I am going
to attend Syracuse University.
